More than 100 lacrosse players from across Greater Houston gathered Monday for the first day of the four-day Strake Jesuit lacrosse camp. Crusaders coach Mike Block and a large staff, some of them from other schools, instructed players in grades 3-12 from schools such as Bellaire, Katy, St.

Any hope lacrosse and four other sports had of being sanctioned by the University Interscholastic League were quickly dashed Tuesday. The UIL's policy committee unanimously rejected proposals to make lacrosse, martial arts, gymnastics, European handball and bowling varsity sports.

        The Memorial girls lacrosse team remains undefeated after beating Westchester, 14-2, Thursday evening.

    A three-goal outburst early in the second quarter powered the Memorial boys lacrosse team to a 14-2 rout of visiting Bellaire on Saturday. In the first quarter Bellaire pushed hard to try to keep the ball away from their goal, and while Memorial managed only one goal the Mustangs allowed Bellaire just one.   At the beginning of the second quarter Memorial stepped it up and scored three goals.

              It’s early in the lacrosse season and on Friday night, Kinkaid (3-2) hosted and defeated Lamar, 7-3.

    Walker Colt's strong offensive game led the SWLC boys lacrosse team past visiting Memorial, 8-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Colt scored the first goal for SWLC, assisted by Trevor Davis. SWLC took a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and led 4-3 at halftime. SWLC's defense held Memorial at bay much of the game, allowing a first-half goal by Jonathan Heidt and little after that. The Mustangs slipped to 1-1 on the season.

          If Memorial boys lacrosse coach Mike Newton is particularly pleased with two aspects of Thursday's season-opening 3-1 win at Friendswood, they will likely be how well the Mustangs spread the ball and how confident they looked despite their youth. Robert Sauermann, Stephen Wise and Jake Westmoreland scored at windy, chilly Henry Winston Stadium for Memorial, which returned only four starters from last year and has freshmen and sophomores taking up more than half the roster. "We're real encouraged about the long-term health of this team," Newton said.

January will mark the start of lacrosse in Katy and Houston.   Taylor Lacrosse club will enter its sixth season as a strong contender within the Texas High School Lacrosse League, South District, Division II thirteen teams.

            Lacrosse Association is holding its eighth annual Cy-Fair fall classic tournament Saturday and Sunday at Dyess Park.       The tournament is hosting young men from grades four through 12.

  Trilogy Lacrosse is hosting its second annual summer camp at Houston Christian High School this Monday through Thursday that caters to boys and girls at the high school and junior high levels.

      The Houston Youth Lacrosse Organization (HYLAX) hosted its fourth annual Elevate Lacrosse Camp at the South Campus fields in Houston this weekend.

    The Texas High School Lacrosse League held the South Division All Star game Saturday at St.

Saturday and Sunday the Division I and II Texas High School Lacrosse State Championship took place in Dallas. With several Houston teams making it to state the weekend was full of competitive lacrosse action.

        The static of sprinkling clouds and gusts of chilly air mimicked the attitude on the field at Tuesday evening’s Cy-Fair vs.

    Positioned intently under a gray and black tie-dyed sky, Strake Jesuit's lacrosse boys faced off against Kinkaid on their own turf at 7:30 p.m.

    Although the Stratford Spartans have dropped in their ranking, one couldn’t judge it by the pounding they put on the Mustangs Friday night.  The one-sided rivalry match ended in a 14-3 victory by the Spartans.  The Spartans dropped in their rankings due to a close game with Bellaire.

  Stratford hosted Westside on Westchester’s Lacrosse field.  Stratford started strong with a motivated team as the Spartans rammed through Westside’s defense.  Scoring the first goal of the game, Stratford’s Nghia Tran started off positively for his team and would put in a total of three before the end of the game. As high scorer, Tran was a contender for the Spartans.  Coming close behind his fellow team mate, Walker Colt scored a total of 2 goals.

   The Memorial Boys Lacrosse team played Klein Oak on Saturday. The game started out slowly for both teams with Memorial scoring only 2 goals, both by Mason Hebert, and 1 by Klein Oaks by the end of the first quarter.

       Memorial hosted the tough Hockaday team Friday, March 30.

      Memorial played an excellent game against the Woodlands Thursday afternoon.

        The Stratford Spartan boy’s lacrosse team is ranked number two in the state of Texas, according to Laxpower.com.

  Memorial’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team hosted Clear Lake at Memorial High School on Wednesday.  Though Clear Lake scored multiple goals in their previous game, they were unable to repeat this against Memorial; the Mustangs dominated Clear Lake with a half time score of 14 to 1 and a final score of 21 to 2.  Clear Lake started off strong, yet not quite powerful enough to overcome Memorial’s astounding offensive skills and team work.  Throughout the game, Clear Lake had trouble with their defense; they had difficulty blocking the ball and getting it away from their goal.  Clear Lake’s Korri Duncan and Kaylie Flisowski were the only players able to penetrate through Memorial’s defense to score a single goal each.

        A second and fourth quarter surge by the Bellaire boys lacrosse team propelled them to a 12-6 victory over St.

    The battle of red and white went down Thursday afternoon at the Memorial lacrosse field when Memorial hosted St.

  Kinkaid and Bellaire’s girls lacrosse teams battled it out Wednesday night at the Falcon field.

    The Kinkaid Falcons hosted the Clear Lake Lady Falcons Thursday in an early evening lacrosse match.

The Stratford Spartans are ranked fifth in the state in Division II of men’s lacrosse.

        Kinkaid’s Jenny Sangalis scored four goals against the Westchester Academy Tuesday night en route to a 14-6 Falcon victory over the Lady Cats.

        Memorial lacrosse coach Mike Newton and the Mustang team went into Saturday’s game against Klein wanting to make a statement.

Memorial and Klein met for one of the first games of the season on this beautiful sun shining day.

On a cold Thursday evening, the Kinkaid boys Lacrosse team showed their power and cohesiveness on the field against Memorial.
