The Maccabi games were in full swing this morning with soccer matches between teams from all over the country.

      Class 5A Girls Soccer Finals  ROUND ROCK, TX.The Deer Park girl’s soccer team (28-0) advanced to Saturday’s state championship match-up against the Plano West girls full of anticipation and hopes of the Class 5A championship title.

        Round Rock, Texas Class 5A Boys Soccer Semifinals Both the Morton Ranch Mavericks and the Plano West Wolves traveled to Round Rock for their first state tournament appearances.

      The UIL Conference 5A 2007 State Soccer Semi-finals for boys and girls kicked off Friday in the spacious Round Rock ISD Stadium as the best of the best came with high expectations and the hope of moving on to Saturday’s finals.

Friday, April 13th is more than game day, it's the Conference 5A semifinals for Soccer State Championships. Though Round Rock ISD Stadium will stretch beneath the cleats of eight talented teams as they battle for the State Finals, the most interesting fact is only one of these teams has come this far before. {mosimage}  None of the others have made it to this level in the past three years, and most are playing for the state championship title for the first time.

DEER PARK, TEXAS The Region III Semi-Finals and Finals for the 2007 Boys and Girls Soccer Championship were held this weekend at the Clyde Abshier Stadium in Deer Park.   With students out for the Easter holiday the stadium had fans arriving in intervals for the four matches held under sunny skies.

      To say the regional quarterfinals boys soccer playoff game at Rhodes Stadium ended with an exciting finish would be an understatement.

        The Cypress Creek (17-4-3) girls soccer team came into Tuesday night’s regional quarterfinals match up against Cinco Ranch (24-2-1) knowing it would be a challenging game.

  Mayde Creek High School hosted the Area-District game between the Cinco Ranch Cougars and the Westside Wolves Friday night. The Cougars entered this game with a 13-1-0 district record and the Wolves held a 13-3-1 record.

      The second match in a Rhodes Stadium double-header featured Katy ISD’s Morton Ranch and Spring Branch’s Spring Woods.

    Rhodes Stadium was the neutral grounds for the battle of the Lady Mustangs.

  After two ten-minute overtime periods and nine rounds of shootouts, the Spring Woods boys soccer team won their bi-district playoff game against Lamar 6-5 at Rhodes Stadium Tuesday night.

    District 18-5A No.

        The first game in the double-header boys soccer games at Rhodes Stadium Tuesday night featured 19-5A representative Alief Elsik against 17-5A champion Langham Creek.

    Grob Stadium hosted the Bidistrict 5A girl’s soccer Monday where the Memorial Mustangs took on the Marlins from Madison.

      The Stratford Spartans and the Westside Wolves faced off in the Bidistrict 5A game at Grob Stadium Monday night.

    A sunny Tuesday afternoon at Tully Stadium was the setting for a match between the Spring Woods and Memorial girls soccer teams.  This was the first contest since the teams returned from spring break, and the Mustangs certainly looked rejuvenated.

        The Cinco Ranch boy’s soccer team upped their winning streak to six in a row Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over the Hastings Bears.

    Cinco Ranch's Eric Land signs to play soccer for the Division I powerhouse program at High Point University in North Carolina.  Land is an All District player.

The Seven Lakes girls soccer team played host to Lamar Consolidated Friday night in a District 24-4A finale match up.

      Katy and Alief Elsik faced off at Rhodes Stadium Monday night in a tough District 18-5A girls soccer match up.

Monday night Cinco Ranch hosted Katy Taylor in a district match up.

     Since opening its doors even years ago, Cinco Ranch High School’s girls soccer team has captured the district title every year.

The Cinco Ranch Cougars and the Katy Tigers girl’s soccer teams took to the field Friday night to battle it out in what would turn into a very physical match.

The Macarthur Generals put a beat down on the Memorial men’s soccer team Tuesday night at Tully Stadium.

The Lady Mustangs soccer team improved their record to 11-0-1 in district play Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over the Macarthur Generals. The Mustangs dominated ball control keeping play on their side of the field for the majority of the game.

    When the Morton Ranch boys soccer team went into Tuesday’s match up against Katy, the Mavericks knew it would be a big game.

  Tuesday night Cinco Ranch took on Mayde Creek at Cinco Ranch High School.

    The Memorial boys and girls varsity soccer teams hosted Aldine Friday March 2 at Grob Stadium.  Girls     Both Memorial and Aldine had trouble in the first half getting the ball to either side of the field.  With multiple steals on both sides, the game’s first half ended with a score of 2 to 1, Memorial.

  Second Baptist School hosted an official signing event for two of its finest soccer athletes.  Amanda Jocz committed to University of Central Arkansas.

  Rival teams Memorial and Stratford met at Grob Stadium's soccer field Tuesday night.

      Tully Stadium was the site for a soccer double header as Northbrook faced off against Stratford in a District 19-5A match up.

The Tigers hosted the Mustangs Friday February 16th, at Grob Stadium.  Both teams played tremendously hard with amazing passing and offense on Memorial's part and excellent defense on Spring Woods'.  On Memorial's side, number 9, Brynne Walker, started off the game with a long driven kick, scoring the first of many goals of the game for Memorial's strive toward victory.  Spring Woods reacted to this fast scoring phenomenon  by attempting to push back on Memorial hard, yet they had trouble getting the ball to their side of the field.

  It was tied at the half 1-1, in the Stratford vs.

  The Second Baptist girl’s soccer team clinched first place in their district with a 4-0 win over Fort Bend Baptist Thursday night.

  In their last match up for the league, El Modena played against the Villa Park Spartans in a game that left the fans in great anticipation.  The first half of the game began with both teams playing strong as each seemed to be going for the first goal of the game.  In the 8th minute of play, El Modena senior midfielder Miguel Palacios powerfully kicked in a goal from a steep angle at the edge of the field.  El Modena, up by one, continued to play solid defense as Villa Park kept the ball on their offensive end for periods of time.  Eight minutes after the first goal of the game, senior Adam Olson scored for Villa Park off of a penatly shot which tied the game 1-1.   With the first half ending in a tie, it was evident that every play in the second half would count towards gaining the winning lead.  As the clocked ticked away towards the conculsion of the game, neither team was able to pull off a scoring shot.  El Modena’s shot choices became less aggressive as the half continued, yet their defense and ball handling remained excellent which helped keep Villa Park from scoring.   However, this scoring void ended late in the game as Villa Park junior Alex Fitchen darted towards the goal and knocked in the tie breaking point for the Spartans.  This lead that Villa Park took revamped El Modena’s realization that a goal is necessary to stay in the game.  Quickly moving the ball back up the field, El Modena tried to get last goal in the game; however, they were unsuccesful in this attempt.  As the crowds went wild, Villa Park took home the victory with a 2-1 win over El Modena.

     Tuesday night as the wind began to pick up speed,  so did players on the soccer field.

  El Modena hosted El Dorado at the Fred Kelly stadium Monday evening at 5pm.  For El Modena, a victory in this game would mean they have secured first place in the league. In the first half of the game, both teams had a difficult time trying to score the opening goal of the game.  Heavy on their offensive passing, El Modena maintained possession of the ball for long periods of time throughout the game while El Dorado had difficulty on the defensive end.  After a lengthy scoring drought in the game, El Dorado led the way with the first goal which was seen as monumental in this low scoring match up.

    Physical Play Wins It for the Northbrook Raiders The crowd helped set the tone Friday night when the Northbrook Raiders faced off against the Spring Woods Tigers. From the start it was apparent that this game would be a physical one and the Raiders proved that point by aggressively scoring the first goal within the first five minutes.

  The Kinkaid soccer team continued its winning ways against Episcopal Tuesday night.
