College baseball in crisis
College baseball, like it’s professional counterpart, is a game full of mystique, legend, and lore. From the first “ping” of the bats in February to the hallowed grounds of Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, where the nation’s top eight teams battle it out in the College World Series each June, the sport has quirks, traditions, and rituals that you won’t find in the more popular collegiate sports of football and basketball.

Thursday could be a life-changing day for a number of Houston-area athletes, as it marks the first day of the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Gregg Laswell: United States Air Force Academy
Gregg Laswell of the Memorial Mustangs will continue his baseball career on the collegiate stage at the Air Force Academy, after earning a Congressional appointment from the Colorado Springs, CO, institution. Due to his outstanding performance in the classroom, Laswell will go directly into the academy and bypass the prep school.
Laswell was a standout pitcher for the Mustangs, finishing 9-2 in his senior season with a 1.84 ERA.
Klein Collins, Cy Fair: State baseball preview
Cy Fair and Klein Collins’ baseball squads will face off at Dell Diamond in Round Rock Thursday morning at 10 a.m. This should be a very interesting match up.
Klein Collins (36-5) enters this game with plenty of momentum.
