The Athletes Connection’s athlete of the week was a tough choice this time around as so many athletes have had some top performances throughout softball and baseball playoffs. However, there is one athlete in particular that had a monstrous series in the area playoffs.

Kevin Ahrens of the Memorial Mustangs had a stellar series against the Cy-Falls Eagles who fell to the Mustangs two games to none in the best of three series. Ahrens belted three home runs in less than a 24-hour span giving the Mustangs more than enough firepower to advance to the regional quarterfinals.

Ahrens went 4-7 at the plate with his three homeruns and a single that drove in six RBI’s. He has kept better than a .400 batting average throughout the season and looks to continue his success as his team advances deeper into the playoffs. Ahrens is also ranked #20 in the nation by BaseballAmerica.com.
