The UIL Softball State Championship will be held this weekend at The University of Texas’ McCombs Field in Austin.

The Katy Lady Tigers advanced to the state semi-finals after dominating the Cinco Ranch Lady Cougars in a three-game series last week to win the 5A Region III title. After Matte Haack singled into right field, allowing Tori Ortega to score the winning run, Katy landed their first trip to state.

The Lady Tigers (34-8) will play against Lewisville Marcus Lady Marauders (23-6) on Friday night at 8 p.m. The winner of this match-up will advance to play Austin Bowie (30-6-2) or last year’s 5A softball champion, Garland Owls (36-9-2) in the final game on Saturday June 2nd at 8p.m.

Girls 4A softball semi-finals will begin Friday June 1st at 11:30 am.  McKinney North(33-7) will face off against Denton Ryan (34-6). The 2005 4A state championship Brenham Cubettes  (35-6-1) will attempt to get past Boerne (36-9) in order to advance to the finals on Saturday at 5p.m.
