“Gary’s all right, he is just taking a rest period,” Gary Sr. said. “He has been going year around for many years now. He is just getting some rest.”

The father also continued by saying that the University of Texas is going to release an official statement today in regards to the 6-7 forward’s future as a longhorn basketball player.

Reports from the UT athletic trainer state that Johnson is not cleared to play at the collegiate level. But in the Johnson household, there are no worries.

“If it was crucial, do you think I would be at home right now,” Gary Sr. said. “I would be in Austin with my son. It is not that major.”

Future Longhorn Johnson is currently taking classes at the university right now. According to the father, Gary Jr. is enjoying himself, resting and doing teenage stuff.

Johnson was a third team Parade All-American and a first team All-Greater Houston pick.
