The 2007 AAU Shake & Bake Tournament started Friday night at Lutheran North High School. With two pools of 12 & 13 under girls and four pools in the high school division the weekend is guaranteed to be full of action packed basketball.

The 12 & 13 Division hit the courts first. The Houston Hotshots Hatch beat the Katy Heat 54-32. On the other court, team Dynasty was getting their first win beating the Houston Hotshots 40-21.

The High School teams were next on the hardwood. The Houston Insiders hit the ground running as they sped past the Lady Lakers Ruta. The Insiders started the game with quick back-to-back baskets. The Lakers were looking for their rhythm as the Insiders were finding their sweet spots on the floor, closing the first half leading 30-0.

The second half was a mirror of the first as the Insiders’ defense and offense dominated the game. The Lakers did not throw in the towel as they fought for every basket and made sure it was not a shut out. The Lakers scored seven and gave the Insiders the win with a final score of 43-7.

Leading scorers for the Insiders were Nay Carter, Diante Clay, and Clairissa Moore.

On Court 1 the Lady Warriors were fighting for the win against Hi Performance Hoops.
Hi Performance held the momentum and the lead throughout the game with their on court communication and awareness of each of their players. The first half closed with Hi Performance leading 37-18.

The Warriors came out more aggressive in the second half as they battled their way back to make up the deficit. Although they hustled and put it all on the court they could not overcome Hi Performances ball movement and sinking shots. Hi Performance moves on in the brackets with a final score of 63-36.

Hi Performance Head Coach, Jerry Kroll said, “ I’m very proud of the team, they played together with enthusiasm and I’m excited to play tomorrow and see how good we really are.”

Leading scorer for Hi Performance was Lexi Ray with 19 points and the Warriors Sojourner with 11 points.
