Basketball Houston Insiders & Westfield High School
Na Carter is the Athlete’s Connection All-Star Athlete of the Week. She is a leader and a key asset on her teams and continues to expand her skills on and off the court.
Gevenia “Na” Carter began playing basketball at the age of 10 at The Julia C. Hester House, under the coaching leadership of Jesse Hunter in June 2001. Na went on to play AAU basketball. She played several years for Houston Team Extreme under the leadership of Nekisha Durham and Miosha Oliver.
She now plays for the Houston Insiders Girls Basketball Team under the coaching direction of James Daniel and Simmie Colson. Since under their leadership and guidance she has received many correspondences from Colleges. Summer basketball helps her by improving her game and mental status so that she can go on to play at the Collegiate Level and beyond.
Na will be a junior in the fall when school starts and attending Westfield High School in the Spring Independent School District. She will be a 3 yr. Letterman and since she began playing for Westfield, she has been a starter.
As a freshman she received First Team All District New Comer of the Year for 2005-2006. As a sophomore, she helped her team become District and Bi-District Champs. They also, made it to area playoffs but were defeated by Conroe. This year she received First Team All District, MVP and was placed on the All Region Team by the TABC for 2006-2007 and was listed as one of the top 100 girls in the USA in the Roundball Review.
She is a member of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where Wiley L. Dunn Sr. is her Pastor. She participates in Youth Choir Organization under the leadership of Minister Milton Hollins and Rev. Kenneth Jackson and Ada Williams is her Matron.
Na loves to help and give back to her community. She has worked with Project Target Hunger Summer Youth Program, Houston Area Urban League and The Star of Hope. She has fed the homeless, wrap gifts for under privileged children and assist the elderly with the up keep care of their lawns.
She has been a tutor to upper classmen and has received and academic award from the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority.
Gevenia believes that “We Can Do All Things Through Christ,” and that GOD gives everyone talents, it is up to us to figure out what ours is and use it before we lose it.
