The first day of the 37th Annual Ponderosa Invitational was held at Klein Collins High School Natatorium June 30th 2007.
 
For the last thirty-seven years, Ponderosa Forest swim team has hosted the inaugural meet, which started out with only eight swim teams and now hosts up to 96 teams with at least 14,000 boy and girl swimmers ranging from the ages of 6 & under, to 18 years old.  All of the athletes are Northwest Greater Houston area swimmers representing subdivisions in the Houston Area and bordering areas as far as Bryan-College Station. 

 

The invitational started promptly this morning beginning with the qualifying meet.  The qualifier ran for 41 events with multiple heats for each event.  Swimmers of all ages  had to compete and fight for a qualifying time in order to advance to the finals later in the afternoon. 

 

The strokes along with the qualifying times that were swum in today’s event included the 50 yard Free style, 50 yard Back Stroke, the 200 yard Free relay and the individual medley relay.

The top eight swimmers with the fastest qualifying times will have a three-hour rest period and will reconvene at 5:30 pm for the Ponderosa Finals.
