Milby High School Alum John Williams is continuing his championship tradition at John Brown University (JBU) in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. John received a full scholarship to play basketball at JBU, and in his senior year, he continues to be a leader on the Golden Eagles’ team.
The word "Champion" has long been in John’s vocabulary, as he helped lead Milby to the 2004 State Championship, and in his rookie year, JBU earned the national title, beating Azusa Pacific. Both of these experiences have helped John become a stand-out in Arkansas and in his hometown of Houston.
John attributes his continued success on the court to his mother, Wanda Williams, who has been a driving force behind his basketball career. John’s dedication to the sport grew from years of AAU summer basketball competition, comraderie, and his active membership in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
John is excited about finishing his senior year as a Golden Eagle. With the upcoming season full of promise, his team is ready to regain the championship title under a new head coach. John has also learned that there is a balance between being a collegiate athlete and a successful student.
John believes that every kid that is interested in playing on the collegiate level should be involved in summer sports such as AAU and continue to improve their skills on the court and in the classroom.
