The Stratford Spartans have fared well in California at the national 7-on-7 competition, making their way to the semi-finals. The Spartans defeated Georgetown in pool play with a 27-26-overtime victory, which was a rematch of the championship game in College Station, TX, last weekend.

Georgetown had Stratford’s number in Texas, but Andrew Luck and company squeaked by the Eagles in Cali. However, the Spartans struggled in their game against Pahokee High School, a small school in Florida. Pahokee defeated the Spartans 20-13 in pool play. The Spartans finished pool play with a 3-1 record, earning a spot in the semi-finals.

Stratford was unable to advance to the finals as they fell 26-7 to Encino High School out of California. Encino will advance to the finals, where they will play Pahokee later Thursday afternoon.

Pahokee has earned the national 7-on-7 tilte with their overtime win against Crepsi. The Blue Devils finished 5-0 in the national tournament and handed the Spartans their only loss.

Congratulations to the Spartans for representing Texas well on the national level.
