The large turnout for the Northbrook Homecoming festivities was a momentum boost for not only the Raider team but for all who were present. The night was highlighted by a special Bandolera routine and the crowning of the 2006 Homecoming king and queen.

The drill team used big blocks to spell out Homecoming to the delight of the spectators. Their enthusiasm was contagious and set the tone for the Homecoming court presentation.

It was a night of special privileges for many junior high students who had a good report card and no conduct penalties. Landrum Middle School and Northbrook Middle School band students supported the band and drill team from the bleachers while sixth grade soccer students joined in.

Also in support was the Stars dance team from Landrum Middle School, directed by a former Bandolera, Maria Olivarez. Olivarez prepares future Bandoleras by teaching the fundamentals in the middle school setting. This allows the girls more preparation for the rigorous demands of a high school drill team.

Ten outstanding young men and women were chosen by the senior class to represent Northbrook High School in the 2006-2007 Homecoming Court. The entire student body elected the Homecoming King and Queen.

The nominees included Maria Rangel, Alicia Nino, Karen Mendoza, Megan Garcia, and Helen Camarillo for queen and Jose Soto, Mike Rangel, Louie O’Neal, Omar Munoz and Willie Guzman for king.

Returning for this special event were the reigning King and Queen, Pete Salazar and Connie Nguyen.

The crowd erupted with cheers as the awaited announcement was made. The 2006-2007 Homecoming King, Louie O’Neal and the new Queen, Helen Camarillo were crowned and presented to the applauding crowds.
