The Houstonian Golf and Country Club hosted the Houstonian Invitational this week with competitive rounds beginning on Monday and finishing on Tuesday. The tournament was in invitation only event that brought about some of the top talent in the state of Texas and a couple of competitors from Louisiana. Competition consisted of boys and girls in their respective age divisions.

With some of the best talent in the Region, the Houstonian Invitational is a great way for these high school athletes to build a resume that will help them earn a spot at the next level.

“Being invited to one of these tournaments is really great for the recognition,” said Frisco’s John Darden. “Playing at the collegiate level has always been a dream of mine and so I don’t mind traveling to play in some of these high profile tournaments because I know it will help me down the road.”

After several hours of play on Tuesday the course experienced a few showers but did not stop these kids from competing. However, it could have made a little difference on the course.

“The course is in great shape so there hasn’t really been that many unique challenges so far,” explained McKinney’s Paul Lassiter. “This little down poor could put a few challenging wet spots out there, but I think it will be ok.”

Scores soon to come
