Volleyball’s 2007 district play began tonight for the Stratford Spartans and the Aldine Mustangs at the Spartans home gym. Both teams came out ready to play, hoping to take the first game and match.

Aldine scored the first two points of the game with a kill block and a hard serve. But the Spartans came right back scoring one point after another. Stratford took a killer lead, leading by 12 at one point. Spartan, Mary Ellen Luck served the last point of game 1 giving Stratford the win 25-8.

The Spartans held their monstrous lead in game 2 holding the Mustangs at two points. Aldine did fight back scoring a few, but the Spartans came up with the victory again 25-5.

Game 3 was the Spartans game. They came out scoring hard and only allowed Aldine a few points throughout the rest of the game. Stratford was victorious, winning 25-11. The Spartans’ hard hits, serves, and communication won them the match.

Stratford’s next match up is Tuesday vs. Spring Woods.

Aldine’s next match up is Tuesday vs. Eisenhower.
