The Ft. Bend TTCA Invitational hosted by Clear Lake High School took place Friday and Saturday. The invitational saw several state ranked teams according to the Texas Tennis Coaches Association. Teams included the No. 8 team Katy Taylor, No. 11 Clear Lake, No. 13 Memorial, No. 20 Ft. Bend Clements, No. 21 Ft. Bend Austin, No. 25 Cy Woods, and several other District contenders consisting of Stratford, Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Cy Fair, and the Woodlands.

The Invitational was especially important to Spring Branch schools. For Stratford and Memorial this was their only chance to see who they will face in the playoffs, because they will not compete against these teams until the postseason due to the UIL schedule.

“This is an outstanding tournament, it’s a very tough draw as all of the best teams in the area are here but we feel optimistic about our chances heading into the season” explained Stratford head coach, Rory Frazee.

Coach Frazee and his team fell early to Clear Lake but redeemed themselves by making it to the consolation championship where they faced Cy Woods.

Clear Lake went on to take 3rd place beating Clements 10-1. The Finals saw an intense match-up between Katy Taylor and Clear Creek. Taylor was victorious, winning 10-6 and upholding their state ranking.
