The Stratford Spartans improved their District record with a 3-0 win against the Spring Woods Tigers Tuesday night. The Tigers had home court advantage, but the Spartans made themselves comfortable, taking each game (25-12, 25-17, 25-12).

The Spartans entered this match as the more experienced team, and they showed that by taking the reigns early and maintaining control throughout the games. The Tigers did not have an answer for the Spartans' power- hitting and net play. Stratford had several rallies, going six plus unanswered points in each game, but the Tigers hustled for every save and for every point to keep them in the game.

Stratford head coach, Becky Palermo said, “We have a little bit more experience, but they play really good defense. We are still struggling a little bit, but I think we are on an uphill swing and on the road.”

Stratford’s Mary Ellen Luck led both teams with 10 kills, and Maddie Zerbe and Tina Ngo led Spring Woods with 4 kills each.

On Friday, the Spartans will face Eisenhower at home and the Tigers will play Nimitz at Nimitz.
