The HGA Fall Open concluded Sunday with championship play at the Kingwood Country Club. The Open, sponsored by the Kingwood MGA, was open to men and women, ages 14-18.
There were forty-three golfers competing for the trophy on Sunday as the first tee time was 7:30am. The Athletes Connection followed the men and women in the 16-18 age groups as they finished up play.
Leading the men on Saturday was Joseph Reynolds with a round of 76. He was closely followed by Smith Alexander, Richard Andrew, Cody Crabtree and Justin McKay, who all shot a first round of 79.
Sarah Kothny led the women Saturday afternoon with a round of 79. She was followed by Brooke Cunningham, 81, and Katy Cardno, 83.
Joseph Reynolds, a senior from Houston, won the men’s 16-18 age group, shooting 150 for the two days. He beat his first day round of 76 with a 74 on Sunday.
Sarah Kothny, a senior from Kingwood, won the women’s group, shooting 162 for the weekend, with a second round of 83.
Adam Nelson, Missouri City, shot a 159, 86-73.
Alexander Smith, Houston, shot a 159, 79-80.
Justin McKay, Crosby, shot a 160, 79-81.
Taylor Callender, Houston, shot a 164, 83-81.
