District 18-5A’s Katy Tigers and the Morton Ranch Mavericks hit the court Tuesday night at Morton Ranch in a quick fire district game. The two teams are well into their district schedule and the Tigers were ready to put another one in the books, as they took down the Mavericks in three consecutive games.

Katy dominated game one and two with a 25-15 and a 25-14 win but the Mavericks were not going down without a fight. Game three was a close game with the score staying within points of each other and the lead being exchanged from Tiger to Maverick.

Morton Ranch took the early lead by taking advantage of Katy’s mistakes however as the Tigers' saw a game four approaching they refocused and started to rally. With the score tied at 22 after Katy’s, Cady Mercer’s kill that bounced around the Mavericks side, the Tigers closed the game with three unanswered points for the 25-22 win.

“We set our sites on winning district this year, I think we kind of settled and slowed down a little bit but we got back on track and got focused,” Katy head coach, Karen Paxton explained.

Katy’s Sandra Adeleye was the kill leader with 9 kills and controlled the net. Adeleye had help from Allison Kengsley and Maddie McKay who ran the floor and Matte Haack who stepped up in the back row.

The Tigers will play the Cinco Ranch Cougars on Friday the 21st at Cinco Ranch and the Mavericks will take on Katy Taylor at Katy Taylor on Friday as well.
