The Kinkaid Falcons ended a great season with a tough showing in the SPC field hockey tournament. The Falcons came into the tourney 7-1 in district play with high hopes of being contenders for the SPC conference title. Unfortunately, the Falcons struggled throughout the tournament as they finished 0-3.

“We had a paralyzing loss against Trinity Valley in a 2-1 overtime loss,” explained Kinkaid coach Jessica McClain. “We just couldn’t seem to recover.”

The Falcons matched up against rival St. Johns for their second game, and again fell short in overtime. Both teams were held scoreless in regulation, but the Mavericks scored in overtime to secure the 1-0 victory.

“St. Johns came out with something to prove,” said McClain. “And they did just that.”

Kinkaid struggled more on day two as they fell to All Saints 2-0 to end the tournament for the Falcons.

“We had a great season, we just had a rough two days,” stated McClain. “This was a bad way to end the season.”

The Falcons will look to come back strong next year as they return sophomore forward Alex Salenis who was a big scorer for the Falcons this year. They will also return sophomore Claire Bailey who has been a defender for the Falcons, but looks to be more of an attacker by next season.
