When an undefeated district team goes into a match up it is likely that they will be the team that everyone wants to beat. That is the feeling going on right now with the Cinco Ranch (26-8, 10-0) volleyball team.

But they take it in stride.

"They know that wherever we go that everyone wants to beat us,” Cinco Ranch coach Tammy Laurence said. “It doesn’t matter if we are 10-0 or 0-10, people want to beat Cinco Ranch. That’s nothing new to us we are used to that.”

With this mentality, the Cougars remained undefeated in District 18-5A play with a 25-15, 25-15, 10-25, 25-17 win against Alief Elsik on Tuesday night.

For the first two games the Cougars dominated from start to finish. They managed to score several points by capitalizing on errors made by the Rams. Led by middle blockers Ali Becker and Lindsey Miller, the Cougars won Game 1 and 2 by the score of 25-15.

But things changed in Game 3. Elsik (21-11) came out fired up and on point. The Rams started off the game with a 7-1 advantage and that momentum carried them throughout. Middle blocker Adaora Elonu had seven kills to force a Game 4.

Game 4 was all about Cinco Ranch, but there were plenty of defensive blocks and digs on both sides. Right side hitter Jennifer Sanders had the hot hand with four kills.
