17-5A’s District Champs, the Cy-Fair Bobcats took on the Elsik Rams Tuesday night at Seven Lakes High School. This Bi-district game brought out Rams and Bobcats fans that filled the gym with chants and cheering through each of the three games. Cy-Fair continued its lengthy winning streak, sweeping Elsik 25-19, 25-14, and 25-8.

In each game the Bobcats built up their momentum and wore down the Rams. Elsik stayed close in games one and two, coming within a few points of the Bobcats but as they crept closer, Cy-Fair turned up the heat and in game three they drove the point home.

In game three Cy-Fair went on several runs as they started the game scoring five unanswered points and eventually extending their lead to seventeen. Bobcats kill leader Nneka Ogwumike closed the game slamming the ball into the ground for the 25-8 win.

“In the beginning of the game we were a little short, we were making some errors and had to make some different defensive transitions and changes,” Cy-Fair coach Donna Benotti said. “After we made those adjustments, the kids were able to get some momentum and start going into our game.”

N. Ogwumike had a game-high 12 kills. Elsik’s Adara Elonu led the Rams with 8 kills.

The Bobcats will continue to Area Playoffs, playing the winner of Eisenhower vs. Lamar.
