It was an exciting game at Memorial High School Tuesday night, as the Mustangs took on the Dulles Vikings. The Viking starting five lacked the size of the Mustang starting five, but these young men clearly did not lack the heart.

The game got off to an exciting start as Dulles forced three Memorial turnovers. This did not phase the Mustangs as their defense held the Vikings to 9 points.

In the second quarter, the Viking offense outscored the Mustangs 18 to 9, but their careless defense sent the Mustangs to the line repeatedly. Many of Memorial’s points scored in this quarter came from free throws.

The Mustangs came alive after the half, scoring 10 points to the Vikings’ 11. The Mustang effort in the fourth quarter was comparable to the Viking effort as each team put 15 points on the board. The Vikings won the game 53 – 14.

Key players to look out for on both teams are: Dulles – (15) Jared Whitmar, (25) Patrick Williams, (41) Michael McMillian, (14) Able Delagas, and (23 Thomas Delagas
Memorial – (11) Brad Lobeckam, (4) Jackson Kajandor, (23) Matt Furjog, (21) Matt Staff, and (33) David Perry.
