As the sun set Tuesday night, wintry weather arrived back in Houston just in time for the Memorial-Katy varsity girls soccer game at Tully Stadium.
The soaked Astroturf didn’t stop either team from performing at their best, as both teams fiercely competed for the win. But Mustangs sophomore Molly Walker got the final say, scoring the game's only goal late to give Memorial a 1-0 victory in the non-district game.
Both teams played exceptionally well in the defensive and offensive categories throughout. Memorial senior Brynne Walker helped pace the defense with a strong all-over-the-field effort.
“I look at soccer as much more more than a game, but a challenge, and along with my team we will continue to dominate,” Walker said.
Molly Walker helped ensure that at least for one night, Memorial started its season on the right foot.
