Strake Jesuit defeated visiting Jersey Village 3-0 on a breezy Friday night in a District 17-5A boys soccer game.

The teams, both undefeated in district entering the game, played to a scoreless halftime tie.

Many shots on goal were attempted “but we just didn’t finish,” Strake Jesuit (5-0 district) coach Bill McDonald said. “We played well but not as well as we can.”

The game remained scoreless all the way up until there was 2:51 left. Beau Grenier shot just to the left of goalie Jose Lopez and scored.

Thirty seconds later, a second goal was scored by Roberto Contreras.

“Finally in the last two minutes we did it twice” McDonald said.

The Falcons answered with a goal by Omar Moreno, his second of the year.

“We didn’t finish all game, we’ve definitely got to play better especially when we play district, but at the end of the game I told them that I was very impressed that they never gave up,” McDonald said.
