The Reliant Energy’s Scholarships for Champions contest has named its winners. Reliant awarded eight $1,000 scholarships and the winners of the contest came from several Greater Houston area schools. Six different sports were represented among the winners. The sports included football, softball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and track athletes.

The award recipients were: Cinco Ranch’s Kristie Chin, Pearland’s William Boettcher, Washington’s Jarrett Simien, Barbers Hill’s Jared Smith, Clear Creek’s Elissa Loynes, Hull-Daisetta’s Jordan Godwin, Stratford’s Taylor Surles, and Aldine’s Kevin Ayres
