The Madison boys basketball team scored 40 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Hastings 82-80 in a 5A area boys basketball game Friday night at Manvel.

Madison trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter and still was behind eight points with six minutes to play. The Marlins outscored Hastings 40-27 in the period.

LSU commit Tommy Mason-Griffin scored 43 points to lead the Marlins (22-9), who will play Cypress Springs (31-6) in a regional quarterfinal Monday or Tuesday. Richard Brown added 13 points.

Chris Iles' 22 points led four scorers in double-figures for the Bears (26-8).
