The best volleyball teams in Texas have made their way to Houston and are competing for the Tour of Texas title at the Texas Tornado Facility Saturday and Sunday. The Tour of Texas is making its last stop in Houston after a four-city tour. The players ranging from ages 16 to 18 have been competing since January and made stops in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston.

“These are the best teams and the top eight teams in the state of Texas in each age group,” Tornadoes director Stephanie Rhodes said.

The tour is set up where there can be two champions in each age group. Teams can win in points that they have received from each tour stop and an overall Tour of Texas tournament winner. The first-place teams will receive medals and with several college coaches watching from the sidelines a chance to showcase their talents to compete on the next level.

“This is a great tournament,” Rhodes said. “This is a process to help prepare the girls for the National qualifier and showcase their talents so they can offer their talents to different schools.”

Houston is strongly represented with several hometown players and teams competing in the tournament. Schools from all Houston districts have players playing side by side to keep the Tour of Texas title in Houston.
