The Cinco Ranch and Katy girls soccer teams met for bragging rights Friday
night at Rhodes Stadium in their second meeting of the season.
The Cougars won 1-0. They knew that
they would be in for a tough game.
“We expected a hard fightin’ game
for 80 minutes, Katy has a lot of intensity,” coach Amy Pettibone said.
In the first game against Katy, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The tie is the only blemish on the Cougars' record (14-1-2).
Cougars Amy Brodeur scored the only goal of the night. Brodeur shot the goal from the upper right corner. Brodeur, a sophomore is also the top goal scorer with nine on the season. Jordan Hutar had a few great saves and did an amazing job with the scoring opportunites that the Tigers did have.
“We knew that we had to keep Kayla Walker away from any scoring opportunities” Pettibone said.
The last two games will determine the district champion. The Cougars
face Katy Taylor and Hastings next week.
