Hotwire.com leads to great travel savings

Anymore, I travel on a budget.

Not only do I have the usual monthly bills and gas for a 75-mile round-trip commute to work, but every once in a while I want to get back to my hometown in Ohio to see family and friends.

It's not exactly a day's drive away, I'm always looking for affordable ways to get home.

Plane trips have been so expensive lately I have considered driving the 1,100 miles.

Then I found Hotwire.

Hotwire.com is the Internet's premier travel agency. There you can find airline tickets, rental cars, hotel rooms and vacation packages of all kinds.

Hotwire manages its low rates through contracts with major travel providers. What you get through Hotwire would otherwise go unsold. It acts as a Google of sorts, scanning the airlines, car agencies, etc. for you to get the lowest price.

Scanning through fares out of Houston the other night, Hotwire gave me choices in length of stay ranging from two to five nights for several cities, including Orlando, Fla., Los Angeles and Denver.

As always, read the fine print to make sure Hotwire.com is right for you. Rules and regulations always apply; don't wait until it's too late and realize you didn't know something important.

Enjoy your travels!
