Overstock.com offers affordable HDTVs in time for March Madness

The first sporting event I can remember watching in high definition was the 2005 Patriots-Eagles Super Bowl.

Having become a bit of a technology snob, I sat amazed - not at Terrell Owens' memorable performance (remember when he was an Eagle?) but at the clarity of the picture. I loved the widescreen format, with more room to the left and right of the picture than you get on a standard-definition broadcast.

So with the advent of all-digital television next February - not to mention the NCAA Tournament starting this weekend - why not check out Overstock.com to get a reasonable price on an HDTV.

Think they're all priced well more than you can afford, don't you?

Don't fret. After doing some hunting around Overstock.com the other day, I found HDTVs going for as low as $330. And HDTVs don't have to take up the whole entertainment center - while they usually are considerably larger than standard TVs, Overstock.com's supply starts at 19 inches. That size can fit comfortably in a living room and den, and if you search hard enough you'll find small HDTVs that fit in the kitchen.

That was the first thing my other half thought of - that she can watch Oprah and Jon and Kate Plus Eight in the kitchen. All the while, I'll enjoy my favorite shows and sporting events in crisp high definition in my den.

Larger televisions, sized about 37 inches, go for as low as $802.99 on Overstock compared with $1,100 in most other places. That's a savings of nearly 30 percent. And with the current high gas prices, we're all best served to save pennies where we can.

Lest you think Overstock.com is limited to electronics, think again. Among the site's offerings are furniture, clothing, jewelry, sports apparel and books.

And remember, when you purchase an item through Athlete's Connection a portion of the sales come right back to Houston to aid our efforts to cover deserving local athletes.
