With the talent level in the SPC on the rise, the rivalry game between Episcopal and Kinkaid took place Wednesday evening. In a dominating fashion, the Knights defended their home turf with a 6-2 victory.

The big innings for Episcopal was the third and sixth inning where five of the six runs were scored. But to hear coach Kim Randolph tell it, he saw something in his team that he had not seen much this season.

“We came out and played aggressively. We haven’t done that much this year,” Randolph said. “Kinkaid has a really good pitcher (Sydney Friday) and we wanted to do well against her so we were pumped up and wanted to hit the ball hard today. We got some pretty good hits, but more than that, we played really good defense and had good pitching. And that’s what really wins games.”

On the pitching end, the Knights’ Jazz Hawk ended the game with five strikeouts while her opponent Friday recorded seven. But the Episcopal bats came through big in the game.

“Katie Rothfelder had a big hit along with (Zoe) Gerachis, but our seniors came through too,” Randolph said. “Taylor Kopycinski and Emily Vidor both had big doubles as well Lisa Wojnar. You know seniors is what wins it for you generally and they played well today.”

The Falcons made an attempt at a late game run when Amy Doggett’s RBI double brought home a run. Also, Maddie Dorflinger had an RBI-double for score No. 2.

Episcopal will face Magnolia West (4:30 p.m.) this Friday while Kinkaid will suit up Thursday for St. Mary’s Hall (3:30 p.m.).
