On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Mayde Creek hosted Seven Lakes in a non-district game. The Rams had two big innings to ensure a 12-2 victory.
Seven Lakes jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a two-out rally as Cutter McCue had an RBI, bringing in Anthony Montalbano.
The Spartans held the lead for one inning until Mayde Creek went on a two-run rally. Tyler Wright reached base on an error, then Chad Berkman hit a long ball to bring in Wright for a 2-1 lead.
Two innings later, the Rams took the lead by starting the inning with a walk, then a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI hit from Colby Harvey.
Seven Lakes wasn’t going anywhere as they scored a run in the top of fifth to tie it at 2.
The Rams’ first big inning was the bottom of the fifth.
Ryan Cook started with a hit. Zachery Chirtos walked and Michael Toth moved them over with a sacrifice bunt. William Handlin reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring the first run of the inning, and on an error from the Spartans, Mayde Creek scored another again.
Jared Dawkins continued the rally with a hit. A squeeze attempt scored another Ram run and the fourth run of the inning crossed the plate before the third out, for a 6-2 lead.
The very next inning matched the fifth as Mayde Creek scored six runs to invoke the mercy rule.
With one out, Cook got a hit and Chirtos doubled. Toth followed wit a double scoring the two boys on base. Handlin and Dawkins kept knocking the ball and Zachery Herbrich ripped a double to score another run.
