No one was seeing double at Bear Creek Golf World on Wednesday.

They were seeing quadruple.

If anyone doubted the Memorial golf program's dominance in District 19-5A, but if they did those likely were laid to rest when the Mustangs 'A' and 'B' boys and girls team each took first- and second-place in that order at the district championships.

It was the boys team's seventh straight district title and 18th straight for the girls dating to 1991, according to the program's official Web site.

Memorial's B team edged Stratford in a one-hole playoff for second-place.

Mustangs sophomore Cory Whitsett, the defending district champion who placed third at state last year, shot 4-over par 148 to earn medalist honors. Stratford's James Kwon was second at 6-over 150; Memorial's Tyler Gann was third with 7-over 151.

"We were expecting our first team to advance just because of the way they've played throughout the season, and we thought our second team had a shot," said first-year Mustangs coach Cameron Sands, who took over for longtime coach Annette Romero in December. "Stratford was with us neck-and-neck. All our guys performed very well."

The Spartans' Jennifer Hardy shot 77 to win girls medalist honors. Memorial's Amy Oxley was second with a 79; teammate Kelsey Pipitone followed with an 82.

Memorial B's Jonathan Kokot birdied to provide the difference in the playoff.

"That was one of the most exciting things I've ever been involved with in golf," Sands said. "It came down to the second group and those guys all parred, so (Kokot's) birdie ended up winning it for us."

Both Memorial teams, Stratford and the Mustangs' Chris Patrick qualified for the regional tournament, scheduled for April 23 and 24 at Eagle Point in Mont Belvieu, Texas. The Mustangs will seek to defend their team title.

The girls regional tournament will be April 21 and 22.
