In the biggest game of the year to date, Meghan Brown had a performance she might never top.

Of course, some may have said that the last time she did this.

Brown, the Cinco Ranch softball team’s senior catcher, hit three home runs Friday night in the Cougars’ 5-4 win against Katy. The victory clinched the Cougars their third consecutive District 18-5A championship, and Brown the Athlete’s Connection’s CollegeBallorBust.com Athlete of the Week award.

Her first shot tied the game at 1, her second pulled the Cougars into a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning, and her eighth-inning blast to center – on the first pitch of the inning – gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead.

Cinco Ranch won the game when Alex Blake scored on a throwing error in the ninth inning.

Image It was familiar territory for Brown and most everyone watching. Brown hit three consecutive home runs in the regional finals against the Tigers last year, but the Cougars lost. That capped a year in which she hit .347 with 26 RBI and earned All-District honors for the third consecutive season.

The Cougars (23-4 overall, 12-2 district) open postseason play with a one-game bi-district playoff at 6 p.m. Thursday against Cypress Springs at Morton Ranch.
