Alyssa Garcia and Debra Kelly doubled, and MacArthur scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-2 win in Game 1 of its 5A bi-district playoff series against Westside Thursday night at Butler Field.

The game started slow - neither team scored until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Westside took a 1-0 lead.

But the Generals scored three runs in the top of the fifth off Westside pitcher Abbie Ornelas, who took the loss. The Generals scored one more run for a 4-1 lead.

The two teams play Game 2 of their series at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Aldine ISD athletic complex. If necessary, the third game would follow immediately.
