I’ve always hated shopping for cards.
Almost without fail, I think the drawings are cute but the lines contain more corn than a Midwestern cookout. And with Mother’s Day coming, that’s not a good combination.
Then I saw this idea from Hallmark – recordable greeting cards with music.
Record the card at any Hallmark Gold Crown store. Choose the card you’d like and say your message. If you don’t get it right the first time, record it over. You get as many takes as you need.
The musical selections are varied if not humorous. Songs range from Blood, Sweat and Tears’ “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” to “Whoomp! There It Is” by Tag Team.
The power of the voice can’t be overstated. That’s why I feel the best gift my 10-month-old niece got when she was born was a CD full of kids songs that featured her name. Every time I hear those songs on trips home, I can picture her face lighting up as she hears her name.
Same with cards. It’s one thing to see a loved one’s signature, but hearing them say what you’re reading can push one to smiles and/or tears given the right inflection and message.
So try out these recordable greeting cards with music from Hallmark today. There’s plenty of time before Mother’s Day and any holiday for which such a gift is fit.
