Crusaders, Mustangs in middle of pack after one day at state

AUSTIN - Strake Jesuit's Nicko Dodd and Memorial's Cory Whitsett both shot 72 Thursday and are tied for second-place after one day of the 5A state boys golf championships at Jimmy Clay Golf Course.

 

Dodd and Whitsett are two shots behind leader Ryan Dagerman of Plano West.

 

Memorial shot 298 as a team and is fourth. Strake Jesuit is one stroke and one place behind the Mustangs.

 

Chris Lauinger shot 73 for the Crusaders, ahead of Ben Thorseth (76), Robert Mills (78) and Garrett Velarde (83).

 

Other Memorial scorers were Jes Schneider (73), Greg Rochna (75), Tyler Gann (78) and Lawrence Chang (79).

 

The Athlete's Connection will be in Austin Friday to provide complete coverage of the final day of the 5A state meet.
