MANVEL - The Bellaire baseball team swept two games from Alvin Saturday, winning by 7-6 and 5-3 scores to take their regional quarterfinal series 2-1.

The Cardinals (37-7) advance to play District 20-5A rival Westside in the regional finals next weekend. The entire series is expected to be played at Ray Knoblauch Field at the Butler complex, but dates and times were not immediately available.

Bellaire lost Friday night and trailed 5-1 late in Game 2 Saturday but scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-6 lead.

In Game 3, the Yellow Jackets (33-7) led 2-1 in the fourth before Bellaire came from behind again.
