PITTSBURGH - The St. Thomas boys rugby team lost its third-place game Saturday at the National Guard Boys High School, Club, and Boys and Girls U-19 Club Championships at Founders Field, 19-17 to Penn, Ind.
Conor Mills had two tries and Thomas Glover one for the Eagles, who led 12-7 at halftime.
St. Thomas improved its national standing by four spots from last year.
"We had a shot from the 45-yard line at the end of the game but we dropped a goal attempt," Eagles coach Jim Wolfinger said. "It was an extremely even game; they were toe-to-toe. ...
"A (fourth-place finish) is great. For there to be 750 to 800 teams nationwide and we're fourth, we're glad."
