Bellaire to face Southlake Carroll in state semifinal (with podcast)
Sunday June 01, 2008

The Bellaire baseball team will play Southlake Carroll in the second of two 5A state semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
The Cardinals (39-8), who defeated Westside in three games in the regional finals this weekend, are making their 10th state appearance. Carroll (22-18), which swept Flower Mound Marcus in the regional finals, had to forfeit 11 wins earlier this season for using an ineligible player.
This is the Dragons' first state appearance since 2002.
Friday's winner will play Plano West (38-2) or Laredo United (32-7) in the 5A championship game at noon Saturday. That game will be televised live by FSN Houston/Southwest.
Plano West and Laredo United will play in Friday's first semifinals at 4 p.m.
State pairings for Houston-area teams are listed below.
