Six local high school baseball players were selected in the Major League Baseball draft Thursday and Friday, and at least two of their paths at this point are as yet unknown.

Second Baptist pitcher Ross Seaton was drafted 109th overall by the Astros, Cy-Fair's Robbie Grossman was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round, and teammate Tommy Collier went to the Milwaukee Brewers in the 29th round.

Later, Westside pitcher Michael Goodnight went with the 831st pick to the Cleveland Indians, Lamar shortstop Anthony Rendon went 820th to Arizona and Memorial outfielder Jeremy Rathjen went to the Diamondbacks with the 1,365th pick.

Grossman told the Cypress Sun he still planned to attend the University of Texas, but Collier told the paper he is taking the weekend to make up his mind between the Brewers and San Jacinto Junior College. He said he plans to meet with Brewers representatives Monday.

Players may be drafted up to five consecutive years.

Seaton, a Tulane commit, was 9-0 pitching with a 0.91 ERA this year and hit .390 with seven home runs. Scouts like his slider and fastball, and note that his steadfast commit to the Wave may be tough for the Astros to break.
