Westside baseball coach Emrick Jagneaux, who guided the Wolves to within one win of the state tournament last month, has resigned to accept the head coaching job at Deer Park.
Jagneaux replaces Rick Crawford, who was released following the 2008 season.
Discussion of the head baseball coach position was on the agenda for Monday night's Deer Park ISD Board of Trustees meeting.
The Wolves had the most successful season in school history this year, advancing to the regional finals before losing to District 20-5A rival Bellaire in three games. Westside finished 30-5.
Two Wolves pitchers, Wall and Michael Goodnight, were taken in the Major League Baseball draft the following week but will play collegiately at Rice and Houston, respectively.
Before coming to Westside, Jagneaux coached at the collegiate level for 14 seasons with Lamar and Southwestern Louisiana and won a high school state championship in 1983 in Louisiana. Write comment
