Cinco Ranch golfer posts solid score at third HGA Junior Golf event

The Houston Golf Association’s summer Junior Golf season continued Monday afternoon with its third event at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring.


Kyle Bell, an incoming senior at Cinco Ranch, won the boys 16-18 Performance Series, shooting a 1-over 73. Houston’s Alexander Smith finished a stroke behind, while Colton Key of Sugar Land finished third with a 75.


“I didn’t hit the ball as well as I wanted to, but I putted well, and got birdies on my putts,” Bell said.


In the Weekly Series, Bradley Espinosa won with a 75, with Spring’s Stephen Woods second with a 76, and Houston’s Anu Chahar third with a 77.


In girls action, Kingwood senior Sarah Kothny had the best score among Performance Series participants, shooting a 78. Brianne Trial of Montgomery finished second with an 85.


Houston’s Avery Seale won the Weekly Series for the tournament by shooting an 85, with Stephanie Thompson of Spring finishing second with a 92.
