Seventy-two college basketball prospects and a slew of coaches will descend on the University of Houston Saturday and Sunday for John Lucas' 2008 Southwest Invitational Camp.

Among the attendees include local standouts Tobi Oyedeji (Bellaire), Marquette recruit Erik Williams (Cypress Springs) and Notre Dame commit Joey Brooks (Strake Jesuit).

"New Mexico native Alex Kirk (a 6-foot-9 junior) is already drawing Kevin McHale comparisons and could turn out to be one of the nation's biggest sleepers," said Jim Hicks, proprietor of RCSSports.com. "Other out of town underclassmen making the trip to Houston this weekend, hoping to live up to the hype include Patrick Lucas Perry (Michigan), Tank Mayberry (Corpus Christi), Jacob Holmen (Whitehouse, Texas), and Darius Milburn (Louisiana), and Arsalan Kazemi (North Carolina)."

The camp begins Saturday at UH's Wellness and Recreation Center.

Participants will attend an NCAA academic workshop at 11 a.m. before the camp portion begins at noon. The guest speaker will be Del Harris, a former NBA head coach who reportedly will be named an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls.

Division I college coaches can attend for Sunday's session, which runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is free for all family, friends and coaches.
