It was an all-Houston affair in the boys championship of the Houston National Summer Showcase, held at The Woodlands High School Ninth Grade Center Tuesday night.

In the 17-and-under Platinum Division, the Rashard Lewis Elite Team held off a late rally by the Houston Hoops to win 51-48. The Elite had a double-digit lead midway in the second half, but cut the lead to a single point with under a minute remaining.

But a couple of big buckets by guard Ellsworth Porter – who played at Worthing in the 2007 season – helped him score a game-high 20 points.

“The fatigue started hitting us,” Porter said. “We were up by a lot, like we were going back and forth, then we started going up by a lot. Then the fatigue got us for a little while. And in the last five minutes, we were like we have to step it up.”

The Hoops were led by Fort Bend Hightower products Daryell Taylor and Joshua Wesley, who scored 20 and 15 points, respectively.

In the girls 17-and-under championship game, the Tulsa Giants defeated the Texas Breakers from San Antonio 63-44 at The Gym in Humble. The Giants were led by Cristianna Smith, who scored a game-high 23 points.
