Being a soccer goalkeeper is not easy. One mistake or one miscalculation could turn a goalie from a hero to a goat.

On Friday, a small group of kids ages 8-13 got a lesson in how to avoid costly mistakes and be a better goalkeeper.

The Texas Soccer Club hosted a weeklong camp at the Northwest Indoor Soccer Center in the Champions area to give young soccer players a chance to hone their skills in a position that is one of the most scrutinized and pressurized in sports.

Camp coordinator Marc Castillo tries to give the kids pointers in how to be better at the position by not only teaching the fundamentals, but giving the players confidence in game-like situations.

Also, the camp had small games that taught the players to stay in front of the ball and their anticipation.

The Texas Soccer Club, a club soccer team for boys ages 11-19, has held several camps all summer long for young kids interested in playing soccer.
