After the Kinkaid girls basketball team jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game Tuesday night against Episcopal, it was all she wrote from then on. The Lady Falcons defense proved to be too much as they defeated the Lady Knights 56-30.
“We practice on defense a lot so I feel the ‘D’ will always be there,” Kinkaid coach Stacy Marshal said. “When you have a defensive concept, we know that it creates offense.”
And the defense was definitely on point. The Falcons kept constant pressure on the Knights in the full or half-court set. Because of the aggressive play on the defensive end, Kinkaid was able to score several times in transition.
Claire Gerall who had 15 points led the Falcons. Lady Couisnard contributed 13 points. Episcopal’s point leader was Amanda Reese who led all scorers with 18. Morgan Cooper added six points.
Kinkaid will travel to play Duchesne on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Episcopal girls play at St. Stephens at 5 p.m.
