The Memorial Mustangs hosted the Macarthur Generals Tuesday night on the court for an important district match.

Both teams came out strong with great intensity and put points on the board. The lead went back and forth throughout the first quarter, but Will Patchell hit a three at the buzzer to give the Mustangs a 16-13 lead to end the first period.  The Mustangs continued to forge ahead in the second quarter and built a six-point lead going into halftime with a score of 27-21.

As Memorial started to pull away in the third, the Generals found their grove and fought there way back. Heading into the final period, the General had ties the game at 40. Several minutes went by in the fourth period before either team could find the bottom of the net. That is until Jackson Kajander got things rolling for the Mustangs with back-to-back field goals of which one was a three ball. The Mustangs pulled away at that point and went on to earn a decisive 60-47 victory.

The high point scorer for the Mustangs and the game was Jackson Kajander who dumped in 25. Will Patchell added 12 for the Mustangs as well. For the Generals it was Darrell Jenkins leading the way with 12 points as teammate Joe Washington wasn’t far behind with 11.

District play continues for Macarthur as they look to host the Northbrook Raiders tonight and the Mustangs will face their cross-town rival Stratford on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Stratford High School.
