Physical Play Wins It for the Northbrook Raiders
The crowd helped set the tone Friday night when the Northbrook Raiders faced off against the Spring Woods Tigers.
From the start it was apparent that this game would be a physical one and the Raiders proved that point by aggressively scoring the first goal within the first five minutes. The Tigers responded by stepping up their defense and pushing them to their breaking point where a yellow card was pulled against Northbrook. Carlos Cardoza took advantage of the free kick and tied the score up in the first half.
After half time both teams came back out to the field ready to win, it was a battle back and forth each team stopping the other from taking the lead but with less than ten minutes to go another yellow card was pulled. This time the Raiders had a chance for the free kick and the lead. Northbrook sealed the win with the goal and held Spring Woods to only one goal the remainder of the game. Martin Fernandez and Edward Estrata of Northbrook scored the two goals and are looking forward to taking on MacArthur tomorrow night. Spring Woods continues Districts against Stratford on January 30th.
4 - 0 Seals the Game for the Lady Tigers
Following the boy's soccer game the Lady Raiders and the Lady Tigers were ready to play.
It was evenly matched with both teams showing their skills but the Spring Woods Tigers turned the game in their favor scoring four unstoppable goals throughout the game. Ingrid R., Anna M., and Maddie Zerbe of Spring Woods dominated the field and captured the win for their team. The Raiders gave a great effort but were unable to stop the Tiger's offense. Both teams will continue on with Districts where Spring Woods plays Stratford and Northbrook plays Memorial on January 30th.
