Taking control of the game from the beginning, the Orange Panthers played against the Santa Ana Saints Tuesday evening.  The Panthers displayed a solid offense and defense, which left the Saints struggling to make a basket in the first half.  After the second quarter, the Panthers had gained a 27-6 lead in the game.

Saints’ senior Barbie Toscano helped lead her team in the third and fourth quarter as she made several key baskets and contributed several steals and rebounds.  However, the help that she offered was not going to be enough to aid the Saints in the long run.  The Panthers strengthened their lead and had a 40-13 advantage at the end of the third.

Discouraged and down by nearly 30 points, the Saints were uplifted by the remarkable encouragement that their fans displayed.  Instead of becoming angry towards the Panthers for having such a drastic lead, the Saints’ fans channeled their screaming towards the encouragement of their home team.  In the end, the Panthers swept home a victory of 52-25 while managing to keep a positive environment on and off the court.

Notable Saints sophomore, Nicole Warnick positively contributed to the game with her intensity on the court.  Leading scorers for the Saints were senior Barbie Toscano with 11 points and senior Jackie Orosco with 9.

Jenny Fairman led scoring for the game as she had a remarkable 22 points. In addition, Liz Auila took home ten points for the game.

On Thursday, the Panthers will host Saddleback at 7:00pm, and Santa Ana will play away at Segerstrom.
